Dr. Dorothy Fairley in her practice office

About Me

I am licensed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C. and also a member of the B.C. Naturopathic Association and the Canadian Naturopathic Association.

I provide high quality health care that is professional, personal and effective. I am committed to helping patients reach an elevated level of health, by assessing their natural resources for healing, and by helping that process with the tools of naturopathy. Disease is not an event, but rather is a process. It is unique for each person. We work together to determine why symptoms are manifesting as they are, so that we can support the body moving back to health.

My philosophy is to spend sufficient time and personal attention to fully understand all of the factors that may be affecting your health. I do this by taking a detailed history, and recommending tests as needed. I need to learn as much as I can about you, including your diet, work habits, environmental factors, ongoing 'stresses', et cetera. With the information that you provide on the Health History Form or Pediatric Form we can then work towards achieving better health for you, with naturopathic medicine providing the support.

I have a complicated medical history, but despite that, Dr. Fairley was able to improve my symptoms and help me feel better. One of the steps along the way was determining which foods I don't tolerate, which made a positive difference. I appreciate her patience and persistence in helping me find answers.

Q. What happens during my first visit with Dr. Fairley?
In the first visit we do a thorough health history*. This includes questions about all of the systems of the body. I will ask you about past problems, as well as present ones. We also talk about your diet and lifestyle. We then discuss how we will start to address your current complaints.

*If you are booking your first appointment with me, you can download and complete the Health History Form or Pediatric Form now and bring it with you when you come for your appointment.

To open and print the health history form, you will need Acrobat Reader. If you don't already have it you can get it free.

Dorothy is not only a stellar naturopath, but one of the most down-to-earth, compassionate, intelligent and genuine people I know. I've been a patient of Dorothy's for over 15 years. She has stood by me during some of the most extreme health difficulties in my life. She's an amazing and meticulous researcher, always figuring out treatments and remedies that would help me. Dorothy is extremely passionate about her work. I'm bloody glad she's my doctor...cuz I would've had a pretty rough life if I wasn't in her care.

Our Practice Philosophy for Your Treatment

Naturopathic Medicine is a medical approach which can be used by all family members.

Naturopathic Physican's Oath

I dedicate myself to the service of humanity
as a practitioner of the art and science of Naturopathic Medicine.

By precept, education and example,
I will assist and encourage others to strengthen their health,
reduce risks for disease, and preserve the health of our planet
for ourselves and future generations.

I will continually endeavour to improve my abilities.
I will conduct my life and practice of Naturopathic Medicine
with integrity and freedom from prejudice.
I will keep confident what should not be divulged.

I will honour the principles of Naturopathic Medicine:
First, to do no harm
To cooperate with the healing powers of nature
To address the fundamental causes of disease
To heal the whole person through individualized treatment
To teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine

Using botanical medicine, nutrition and homeopathy, while addressing lifestyle factors, most illnesses can be effectively treated. Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief in the healing power of the body, which may only need the right support to heal itself. I take an in depth history* to ascertain the cause of your illness, and we work from there. I look forward to attaining better health for you!

Since as long as I can remember, I’ve had digestive issues. With Dr Fairley’s help, I was able to ‘get to the root of the problem’ and identify certain foods that I could not tolerate. After eliminating these foods and with taking naturopathic supplements and drops, I have been able to heal my digestive system and am feeling much better.
Dr Fairley is an excellent naturopathic doctor. During appointments, she asks important questions and listens intently to what I have to share. She then helps me to understand why certain things are happening to my body and how it can be connected to what is happening in every facet of my life. She shows genuine concern for my health and well-being and every time I leave her office, I feel physically and emotionally better.
